Looking to Volunteer?

You’ve come to the right place! At Farmtown and Funny Farm we believe that the most important commodity we all have it time!  Every thing you do for a child, or animal for our programs, camps, counselling and community interaction adds up to a very big difference for kids, animals and YOU!.. Each moment spent with our kids and animals is an investment into their future, and the future of our communities!  Your encouraging words, smile and just taking time to listen can have a profound impact in their lives.  All kids matter and being here for them shows them that someone cares for them… and that someone is you!!  We promise that , if you are willing to invest the time into our kids and animals, your rewards will be more than you could ever imagine!

At the Farm we believe that spending time together helps kids to make better choices, feel good about themselves and learn moral and ethical decision making skills to overcome hurdles..  We help kids to build relationships with animals, us and each  Building relationships to know kids personally means we have the right to speak into their lives in an empowering and positive way.  It is critically important to affirm each child at whatever physical, emotional, social and physical level they participate at to know they were created with a purpose, a destiny, that they are loved and special, and there is a plan for their lives. As a Farmtown Canada or Funny Farm volunteer you will have the opportunity to directly influence children with a message of hope. We know you want to know more and get started!

How to Get Started

Each Funny Farm and Farmtown Canada program and camp has calendar seasons for training and sign-ups.  NO prior animal, or even camp or teaching  experience, is necessary. We also encourage high school, college and university students needing placements and co-operative education to contact us, as we have supervisory experience in this area. We provide training to volunteers who want to try their hand at anything from Board of Directors, Committee people, Office Helpers to Barn Management, Stable hands, Trainers, Instructors to Gardeners, Custodians, Drivers, Phoners, Helpers, Leaders, Craft people, Mechanical folk, Handy persons, Painters, Builders, Organizers, Crafters, Event Helpers, to BBQ chefs…and everything in between.  Can you see yourself in one of these roles?  We know you can!

Please see the main page for program sign ups annual to get an idea of when you would like to start. The very first thing we recommend is for you to come for a visit and tour the farm.  Talk to the staff and other volunteers on your visit.  If camps, or programs are running that day, you will get a chance to see first hand. the children whose lives are being impacted each and every week and learn about the ongoing mission and vision of our agencies.   It’s important to note that camps and programs are only one of the many areas for volunteers to get involved, however we find it’s a crucial step for each new volunteer to understand who we are, and what we do.  If you are interested after the tour, we will give you some forms to fill out and set a time and date to come back and work on a volunteer role that is designed especially for you!

Once you’ve had an opportunity to visit the farm, you’ll have a lot of questions and thoughts about what you can do and where you fit! . .  If you are interested after the tour, we will give you some forms to fill out and set a time and date to come back and work on a volunteer role that is designed especially for you!

Get ready to be part of something that will affect a life.
